Well hello, Mr Boxette!

For our very first “Covet” feature, something we’ve always wanted – a Deadly Ponies clutch!

We’re currently pining over “Mr Boxette”, the perfect date for day or night! The “standard version” comes in three colours, plus a couple more options – the dangerously sexy “Mr Boxette Crocotile” (MEGA LUST!), and for rich hippies with OCD, the “Mr Boxette Pony”.

Apart from knowing that Deadly Ponies was from New Zealand, we didn’t know much else about the label before this feature. We won’t bore you with the details, but we can all thank the ingenuity of designer Liam Bowden. He taught himself pattern construction, sewing and finishing…and it all began in his garage, which is pretty awesome. We love a good Kiwi success story!

These bags are the accessory equivalent of a golden retriever – soft, cuddly, and you, plus everyone else you know, will instantly love them.

Deadly Ponies declares a commitment to beautifully soft, ethically and locally-sourced leathers. Having stalked the Britomart pop-up store multiple times, we concur… the bags are so soft that at one point I had to fight the urge to hold one up and rub my face against it.

The website (link below) describes the features in much more detail, but the highlights include a detachable strap, four card slots, internal and external zipped pockets, magnetic flap closure (in short, both practical and pretty!)

Available in pebbled bovine leather (Black, Sea Shadow and Brick) NZ$465; croc-embossed bovine leather (Black) NZ$475; and paneled New Zealand lamb nappa (Chevron tonal rainbow) NZ$510. Shop online here.
